Comments/Problems:

First, kudos! Much better than previous installer betas. There was one
issue, and I of course have an opinion or two.

First, the issue: There was no cdrom entry in fstab when install was
complete. Easy fix, but momentarily confusing.

Opinions:
1. There are three visible Hardware Detection phases. I don't understand
why, and to the uneducated eye, it looks like a problem. If they are
doing different things, then say so in the dialog title, IMO.

2. During partition configuration, show all of the available fields from
the get-go. Admittedly, I didn't read EITHER installation guide prior to
doing the install, but then, I was testing the ability to hand someone a
CD and say GO. When I used the new partitioning scheme, I didn't see
filesystem type going IN, so when I was coming out of the partition
usage dialog, I didn't see it then, either. I probably made 6 passes
through before it caught my eye. Too much work (and I've been installing
Debian for years, but I assume you want feedback even on your vast
improvements, neh?)

3. Even in the "simple" configuration routine, I want to have the option
to setup a static network interface, even though I've got DHCP running
internally. Even a little countdown from 5, without keypress continue
with DHCP detection, would be fine.

Overall excellent work!

thanks,

.brian

Description:

hw-detect - Detect hardware and load kernel drivers for it (udeb)
hw-detect-full - Detect hardware and load kernel drivers for it (full version) (udeb)

Changes:
 ddetect (0.81) unstable; urgency=low
 .
   * Joey Hess
     - Remove manual title setting.
     - hw-detect can now be called with a parameter that is the name of a
debconf template. If it is, it will use that template as the title
for the progress bar. This allows for cusomised progress bars
during the different hardware detection steps. Of course, it's kinda a
gyp because hw-detect still loads all the modules it can in each pass.
     - ethdetect passes a custom title, as does hw-detect-full (so do
       cdrom-detect and iso-scan). Closes: #239429, #231105
