I haven't had time to finish this udeb; if there is some way to hide it by
default without removing it entirely, I would like to do that.

Is the d-i kernel really lacking device-mapper?  That has been a standard
part of Debian kernel-source since 2.4.23, and is needed for lvm2 as well
(which I believe has a working udeb).
