Also, I would like to see ext3 support added for the 2.2.25 installation kernel on the m68k distro. It'sbeen tested for around 3 years. I've had no problems. Why not at least allow it in the install process as <Experimental or New> with a caution. Have the m68k installer, or whoever is responsible for making the kernel for the base install use the ext3 patch and allow it as an option on the install process.
The first part would be my job, I just started to rebuild 2.2.25-m68k with
the ext3 patch. If everything goes well, they should be uploaded by
tomorrow. No idea how to make it an option in the install process, I would
assume this is done automatically, if ext3 is available. BTW I'll have ext3
built-in and not as a module, I hope this is not a problem.

Cool! Let me know when you upload and I'll add the Provides to
linux-kernel-di.

Well, the installer would have to be changed to offer the option to format the partition as an ext3 partition. Currenty, that option is not offered in the d-i for m68k. It offers ext2 for formatting a linux partition and that's it. I noticed poking around in one of the /bin directories in the ramdrive that there are commands there available for making ext3 filesystems. So the commands are already in the ramdrive. Just need to add the options in the installer.

So if it's added to begin with. The user won't have to <tune2fs -j /dev/sdx> and then change his /etc/fstab to take advantage of the ext3 filesystem. He'll have it begin with.
