Comments/Problems:

Booted O.K, however installed did not detect the PCMCIA network
card properly (3COM 3CCFE574BT, uses 3c589_cs). Came up with a list of
modules instead, picked 3c589_cs, installer complains that card cannot
be detected, however manages to continue anyway and card magically works.

Installer lets me select distribution, mirror, then proceeds to download
components and then gets into a loop where it cannot detect a CDROM (machine
does not have a CDROM, Doh.) and so keeps coming up with a "Do you want to
configure your CDROM manually" screen. I can get past this by saying no at
some point and select each step manually from the menu (tried partitioning,
mounting fs) but after completing each step the installer tried to "detect
hardware" again and again got me into the loop about not being able to
detect a CDROM.

Hello, a while ago you reported a problem with the Debian Installer. I
think that your problem is fixed in the just released beta 3 of the
installer. If you're still able to install to the hardware you tried it on,
please download it from http://www.debian.org/devel/debian-installer/, and
try it again. Feel free to file another installation report.

A few of the new features of beta 3 include:

  - new easy to use partitioner that supports automatic partitioning and LVM
  - grub as the default boot loader on i386
  - wireless networking support
  - 2.4.25 kernel, with SATA support and security fixes
  - support for the XFS filesystem

Note that your original installation report may have been split up into
multiple individual bug reports. If so this message closes only one bug,
and not other issues you reported.
