Precision needed to translate po-debconf strings in French and probably other languages

Hi Anton,

I am currently working on the translation in French of partman's
po-debconf files.

I would like to know in which context you use the following strings 

 "Project-Id-Version: partman-partitioning\n"
[...]
 #. Type: text
 #. Description
 #: ../templates:115
 msgid "on"
-msgstr ""
+msgstr "présent"
 
 #. Type: text
 #. Description
 #: ../templates:119
 msgid "off"
-msgstr ""
+msgstr "absent"


Does on/off means that a device or a setting is available or does it mean
anything else?
