Comments/Problems:
Overall installation is much better than before. I
really appreciate d-i's team effort. The following
glitch is marginal, but I list them anyway.
1. dmesg does not display, but start-up screen says:
can't open /etc/mtab: No such file or directory
2. The rest are hardware detection problems:
a. I disabled LPT port in BIOS setup, but hardware
detection detect it anyhow wrongly and complain:
Detecting hardware: insmod:
/lib/modules/2.4.22-1-686/kernel/drivers/parport/parport_pc.o:
init_module: Device or resource busy
lp: driver loaded but no devices found
...
insmod parport_lowlevel failed
b. I think my PC does not have i810_rng, but d-i
detects it somehow. Although it detect ide-scsi, but
fail to install properly. Detected modules are listed
as:
aic7xxx e1000 i810_rng ide-scsi
c. As I repeat, I believe no i810, but it says:
Loading i810_rng module.
i810_rng RNG not detected
/lib/.../drivers/char/i810_rng.o: init_module: No such
device
d. My PC's IDE device list is:
hda: EIDE HDD Maxtor 160GB
hdb: None
hdc: DVD RAM HD-DT-ST GSA-4040B
hdd: CD-R/RW Yamaha CRW-F1E
hde: SATA HDD Seagate 160GB
hdf: None
but creates too many /cdrom* mont point. Now it still
create /cdrom, /cdrom0, and /cdrom1. One too many.
I really appreciate d-i team effort, and I wanted to
mail this report using sarge, but I cannot. My PC
uses nVidia GeForce Ti 4200 8X, and I cannot figure it
out to let X function properly. It simpy freezes at
X's start up.
