Package: base-config
Severity: important
Version: 1.33.18

The package description text is false.

"It can be removed with no ill effects -- now that your Debian system is
installed, this package's only useful function is to allow you to
reconfigure some of the things it asked you about earlier."

I deleted this package the very first time I was allowed inside dselect
-- I thought I had left the install package and been handed off to dselect.

/That/ was a mistake. I'm just going to reinstall the system; apt says
it can't find an install candidate for base-config when I try to
reinstall it.

The bug is that base-config showed me something that wasn't true when I
saw it, and I wrecked my system. Changing the text to "/Once/ your
install is complete" would solve that. Keeping me from uninstalling
base-config during install would be a better solution, though.

I cannot see any problems with removing base-config while it is running,
and the bug submitter never got back to me with a followup.
