In my experience that is not a good assumption. How many times have you
explained something only to find your explanation wasn't read, or wasn't
understood? I found it very disillusioning when I first went into
business, and discovered people asking questions that were clearly
answered in the letter they were replying to;-((.

God UI design requires consistency. I recall when the Lisa (predecessor
to the Mac) was released. "Everything operates the same way, " Apple
said. "How silly," I thought, "You can't operate a spreadsheet the same
way you use a wordprocessor." That's true, of course, but now re
understand there are common functions to both, and to may others, at to
the extent they do those common things the same way they make the
software easy to use.

Exceptions are bad.

I've said my piece, and thanks for listening. I've had a long time to
think over the matter, I've read advice from various sources -
principally IBM because that's where my career took me, and I've done a
bit of UI design of my own.

I want Debian to be the best it can be, if only because I now use it.
I'm prepared to help a little.
