Testing the d-i.
To what degree are the following methods usable for testing the d-i:
  1. Using a serial console.
  2. Using a dedicated card that redirects the console and keyboard that
the BIOS is using to a serial line.
  3. A boot ROM on an Ethernet card.
?
I understand that all these methods require 2 machines and, depending
on the method, some hardware that is less common. In addition, the parts
of the installer that directly read from a CD that reside on the
installed machine can not be tested this way. Mounting the CD NFS is a
partial solution.
One advantage for using these methods is that it will help users who
need to install on a remote machine.
