installing on Sony VAIO PCG-N505SN

I am trying to install woody with the latest netinst disks on my Sony VAIO 
PCG-N505SN but up to now failed misserably.

After inserting the root disk and pressing return I get a

  request_module[block-major-2]: Root fs not mounted

Looking up the screen I found also

  request_module[scsi_hostadapter]: Root fs not mounted

I have run SuSE 7.3 and 8.0 before.

Any ideas?
