It is impossible to initialize a reiserfs partition with this version
of the boot floppies because the "-v2" option given to the mkreiserfs
is not supported anymore.

Not true, the problem is known and our mkreiserfs has the compatibility
options built-in. If you build with outdated (broken) Sid or outdated
Woody packages - YOUR problem.
To David: Yes, your fix was not needed, though does not hurt since fixed
reiserfsprogs did already enter woody.
