hello, i got a little keyboard hanging problem with my scenic mobile 800 when i try booting and installing from a suse 7.1 cdrom, the keyboard works. debian does not. the AT keyboard not present error message is not applicable to this problem, it is a notebook and it got an external ps/2 keyboard + mouse attached and an onboard detachable infrared keyboard. when i insert the debian 2.2 r5 cdrom in the drive, the boot: command appears, i press <ENTER> and the kernel unpacks and boots, but then i am stuck in the first installation screen without being able to press any key. to work around this problem and get the box basically running, i took a console cable and gave it a try via serial console: boot: linux console=ttyS0,9600 the installation worked fine, i am now having a working linux system on this notebook, but what i do not have is a working "local" getty. the inittab entry was enabled and init reloaded but again the keyboard was not working. are there any issues with scenic mobile notebooks and debian not working together? second guess: would it be possible to try the installation with a kernel that has only minimal support? (ide disks, floppy, cdrom, ext2, no sound, no infrared, no pcmcia, nothing that could harm) and then go step by step? attached and hopefully readable: dmesg log and some commands i was thinking they could help increase the confusion (See attached file: scenic.txt) much thanks for your attention, bye, alex
