Bug#134216: Woody install needs basedebs.tgz, not basedebs.tar .

Package: boot-floppies
Version: 3.0.19-2002-02-07
Tags: woody

This is a plain vanilla i386-type system.

Being an old Debian hat, I have a somewhat chaotic system.
Mostly potato, quite a bit woody, but some is still "slink"
and I might even have some "hamm" remainders lurking in
dark corners. So, I now want start from scratch and make a
clean installation of Woody on a new partition.

I have a somewhat complicated network setup (ADSL).
So I grabbed the neccessary stuff beforehand, namely boot
and root floppy, as well as drivers.tgz and basedebs.tar,
parked them on my hard drive and then started the
installation, by booting from the boot and root floppies.

When it came to the point where the base system was to be
installed, the installation system looked for the file
"basedebs.tgz" on the harddrive. Alas, all I had was
"basedebs.tar". The installation system didn't find that
one.

So I changed to the other console and did a quick

  gzip < basedebs.tar > basedebs.tgz

which cured the problem.

I suggest you should offer basedebs.tgz rather than
basedebs.tar on the ftp-Server. (So, this is not a problem
with the floppies themselves, maybe I have the package
wrong.)

Here is where the .tar - File is from:
