So, bad news: you shell crashes:
9256 rt_sigprocmask(SIG_SETMASK, [], NULL, 8) = 0
9256 rt_sigprocmask(SIG_BLOCK, [INT QUIT TSTP TTIN TTOU WINCH], [], 8) = 0
9256 ioctl(3, SNDCTL_TMR_STOP, {B38400 opost isig icanon echo ...}) = 0
9256 close(3) = 0
9256 rt_sigprocmask(SIG_SETMASK, [], NULL, 8) = 0
9256 --- SIGSEGV (Segmentation fault) ---
9255 <... wait4 resumed> [WIFSIGNALED(s) && WTERMSIG(s) == SIGSEGV], 0, NULL) = 9256
So say what /bin/sh points too, and try using another shell. Oh, and
restart the box as first - you may have bad ram or similar which may
make the effect look reproducible, but in fact it may be broken
hardware.
Gruss/Regards,
Eduard.
