Argh, using dhcp-client-2.x on ia64 gives me

-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 411168 Jul 5 15:47 dhclient-2.2.x*

Using dhcp-client 3.x on ia64 gives me

-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 1644408 Jul 11 04:38 dhclient

orion:/var/tmp/boot-floppies/mnt.rootdisk# file sbin/dhclient
sbin/dhclient: ELF 64-bit LSB executable, IA-64 (Intel 64 bit architecture) version 1, dynamically linked (uses shared libs), stripped

which is an impressive size increase! Havn't investigated further.
