It'll take a while to run, but it shouldn't be entirely ridiculous. Maybe a similar amount of time to a moderately sized apt-get dist-upgrade? If that works, there's a good chance your boot-floppies will too (whether they're 2.3.5 or 2.3.6 or what); if it doesn't there's a good chance that there's some bug in debootstrap's m68k support.
