[CRISIS] No i386 serial console (was Re: Headless Installation)

AAAARGGGGHHH!

I *knew* there weren't enought people testing serial console!

Is it possible to add these two options to all i386 kernels?  Is there
room?

If not, is there room to add it on the -compact and -idepci kernels?
