X-Mailer: bug 3.2.9

Package: base
Version: 20000209
Severity: critical

I have Toshiba Satellite 320 CDT and D-Link 660 PCMCIA cards. With slink I could install the base complete with networking support but when I did a fresh instal of potato my PCMCIA cards or rather the networking support is not functioning. For example, when I do alt+f2 and do an "ifconfig -a" I can only see "lo". With slink "eth0" would there waiting for an ip addy to be assigned. So what happened now is I have to reboot (after installing the base) and only then I was able to make the networking work.
