bf 03/20/2000 results

Hello,

I tried the boot floppies that are mentioned in #debian-boot from
03/20/2000 and had the following problems:

I installed onto a laptop with a 3Com pcmcia ethernet adapter.

1. pump failed to obtain address from my dhcp server

2. right after hitting enter to auto on transceiver in the network config
my network modules disappear.


it appears if my nic module is loaded and has an address (ifconfig shows
one for eth0) then pump will go ahead and get a dhcp address but if only
the nic module is loaded but network isn't setup then pump does not get an
address, any ideas why this happens?

does transceiver type even belong in network config, especially when
configuring pcmcia?
