sparc 2.2.8 report (dhcp problem + apt config suggestion)
Package: boot-floppies
Version: 2.2.8
Architecture: sparc
System: SparcClassic, 24MB RAM, 1GB HD, keyboard & monitor.
Hello Ben, I just tried your 2.2.8 sparc bootdisks (tftpboot install).
Worked almost but I noticed the following troubles:
1. DHCP cannot configure eth0. My server is running dhcp-beta 2.0b1pl6-0.2
running on a slink PC box, but it does not even log the usual BOOTREQUEST
message I get using syslog. Even tcpdump does not show any traffic ;(((
I get "Automatic configuration using DHCP/BOOTP failed for eth0." message
but pump is still running.
Well, I managed to run pump manually from shell and got the next message:
# /sbin/pump -i eth0 -h dizzy
Operation failed.
It seems there is something missing in the kernel, like af_packet module.
2. When configuring APT (http method), it asked me if I want non-US software.
I asked positively because my local archive is mirroring non-US under
dists/potato/non-US too. However, apt tried to access non-us.debian.org web
site but it was not available at that time because I'm on a private network
without internet connectivity.
Might be better to try access at same address (under frozen/non-US) then
fall back to the non-US web site when not found.
Regards.
