I've solved one of them:

dpkg revealed the following unfortunate state of affairs:
ii slang1 1.3.9-1 The S-Lang programming library - runtime ver
ii slang1-dev 1.2.2-2 The S-Lang programming library, development
ii slang1-pic 1.2.2-2 The S-Lang programming library, shared libra
Updating slang1-dev and slang1-pic solved the problem.
But I can add another issue:
(7) If you build with LINGUA=eo (or any other non-iso-8859-1 language)
and don't have the corresponding font in /usr/src/boot-floppies/, then
rescue.sh does wrong things without warning you. Since "make clean"
deletes the font, it's easy to make a mistake.
