KERDISKPATH, KERDISKFILE, etc. are all used in some snprintf's in main.c that are to set up the location of the rescue images and stuff on the CD. When MULTI_KERNELS is defined, there's a suffix being added to them, but the actual filenames under disks-$(ARCH) don't have that suffix, so it cannot install the base system from a CD.
