since the busybox on the bf doesn't have debugging symbols built in (iirc) i
wouldn't trust this too much. if it's not too much trouble, please try this
after you are at tty2:
echo "icmp 1 ICMP" > /etc/protocols
then try the ping again.
It really shouldn't matter, but i'm not quite sure what else might be wrong.
