Can't install from Win98

I have so far been unsuccessful in getting an install going from a FAT
formatted partition under Win98 using the install.bat file. It doesn't
work under a "DOS" box or a safe reboot. The parition was originally
formatted from NT (I think--at any rate it's not FAT32).

I was hoping the procedure for win95 would work for 98. If others confirm
my results, we should put the info in the install docs. If there's a way
around the problem, that would be good too (I mean where one still kicks
things off from win98; I know you can always boot from diskettes or CD).

By the way, should the "linux" image for use by the disk-based start really
be dated 12/20, or does it need to be updated.

Running an AMD K6-2 chip.
