I believe the problem is the lack of correct /etc/messages.trm file. Which one do you use? Have you tried to make dbootstrap with debugging info? If yes, try to run it under gdb. FYI, I can even run it under my usual (non-root) account, I just miss certain things (which are not that important on this stage). -- Mike
