No.  It works fine if you are using proper terminal emulation.  Anything
with proper color support and a font that handles the OEM line drawing
characters.  A stock xterm with the linux8x16 font from the kdebase
package works well, for example.

The installation looks identical on both VGAcon and sercon with this
configuration.

On an old vt100 terminal you get iso8859-1 characters instead of line
draw characters.  Highlighting looks OK and the install looks reasonably
nice.  It's certainly not unusable or unreadable.
