As such, this bug should be reassigned to e2fsprogs rather than
boot-floppies. The Boot-floppies team is not concerned with 2.0.x
compliance, because the assumption with this package is that you are
installing a new system (or using it for recovery).
The boot-floppies team is *certainly* not about to maintain forks of
older kernels, since that would be off the charter of the project and
beyond our resources.
Any objections to reassigning this?
