Bug#34862: kernel hangs.

package: boot-floppies
version: slink
architecture: i386
model: dan pii-333
memory: 64mbs
scsi: adaptec aic-7880
cd-rom: matshita cr-508
network card: 3com etherlink XL combo 10mb
hdd: uwscsi ibm ultrastar 9lp (9.1gb)
video-card: ati xpert@work agp 4mb

last kernel message:-
 (scsi0) <Adaptec AHA-294X Ultra SCSI host adapter> found at PCI 14/0
 (scsi0) Wide Channel, SCSI ID=7, 16/255 SCBs
(scsi0) Downloading sequencer code... 419 instructions downloaded.

After the above message the computer locks. when i install debian
before i got my ibm ultrastar hdd it worked fine. i used to have a udma
ide 5.2gb. but it never found my cd-rom (?). maybe this is a problem? I
have a adaptec aic-7880 but it detects a aha-294x.
all i did to make it lock up was boot into dos mode and run
install.bat, the kernel did its thing.
