Bug#32138: 2.1.4 i386 boot floppy does not work on Dell Dimension P90

I tried the 2.1.4 boot floppies on a Dell Dimension P90.  syslinux would
not even load the 1st screen.  (nowhere near loading the kernel.) It
displays:
SYSLINUX 1.42 Copyright H. Peter ....
BOOT FAILED

and hangs there.  For what it's worth, the hamm disks worked a few
months ago.  I'm happy to try things out - just let me know.
