Silly me - I had thought MAKEDEV had been replaced by a compiled program 
instead of a shell script and didn't even bother to look at it. 

I've added the necessary bits to MAKEDEV and sent bdale a patch but there's
a sticky issue with m68k/ppc device name clash, I don't expect that to be
resolved soon.

No news on that one yet; forgot to look into it ...

frozen is on 0.2.23 ... I assume that's what I packaged (I mirrored
base and a few selected other things lately)

Patch #3 attached; will be a bit redundant with the new MAKEDEV in parts.
Should I use the patched MAKEDEV to go into base?
