The repository was moved from SVN to Git and if you had 'unstable' in
your sources.list as deb-src you would have gotten the right repository.
You can also try

   git clone git://git.debian.org/git/blends/blends.git

Yep.  There is no relevant change inbetween the last releases in the
code that should be replaced anyway.
