update-cluster and its problems in design
Hi, just a note as a reminder of the current problems with update-cluster
some people may want to have update-cluster to update everything automatically
when the package is installed, however many configuration files are marked
as conffiles, and touching conffiles in the maintainer scripts are
violation of policy, and should not be done.
I would think updating the configuration files manually is a good enough thing,
and it is being cautious, because failing to update configuration files is
disastrous.
So, although debconf interface looks nice, it is unrealistic to use it to
automatically configure update-cluster.
Is there anything that I have overlooked?
regards,
junichi
