Re: Request to fast track gitlab dependencies

Quoting Pirate Praveen <praveen@onenetbeyond.org>:
I get it now, religiously following rules is valued more than solving a real problem for Free Software and our users.

Not necessarily. You did the right thing by asking some months ago,
whether the rules for gitlab could be stretched. That is a valid
question and there is no harm in asking. The answer was, however,
"no". This was not the desired response, but one has to accept it.

In consequence, there were discussions and proposals about creating
a new archive or a new suite with different, more liberal rules,
that would probably fit gitlab, but also other packages. Why not
continue with that effort? IMHO, this is the way forward!

Your work on Debian, related to gitlab, but also JS, Ruby, etc. is
highly respected by many, definitively by me. But in a large team
such as Debian, there are many people with their own specific goals.
And now always it is possible to match them without friction.

I know, that this can be very frustrating at times, but one should
not become bitter about it. Nobody acts in bad faith here.

Cheers
