How to help with backports NEW processing

Hi,

I am looking to upload Git 2.18.0 to squeeze-backports, but it is
blocked by a dgit update (https://bugs.debian.org/901900) that has been
in backports-new <https://ftp-master.debian.org/backports-new.html>
since last week.

Is there anything I can do to help with NEW processing?  Any other
advice about handling this kind of delay (e.g. should I have uploaded
anyway despite the updated version of dgit not being available in
backports)?
