You write a mail to debian-backports, not Ccing the bug. Anything discussed there
will not end up recorded in the bug. The whole point of a BTS is to *track* bugs, not
just file them, so *any* answers to that bug can be important.
Messages only get recorded in the buglog if they are also sent to nnnnn@bugs.debian.org
[ And in this case you SHOULD NOT have Cced the bug as there was no useful info for the bug ]
