Backporting xserver-xorg-video-intel from testing to Lenny?
Hi,
I have never backported a complex package before. I was wondering what it would take to backport the xserver-xorg-video-intel package from current Squeeze (testing) branch to Debian Lenny (stable).
Reason for backporting?
Kernel Mode Setting (KMS). It seems that one needs a recent userspace to use the kernel KMS feature for Intel i915 driver. One needs to have at least 2.5.0 or later version of xserver-xorg-video-intel package which Debian stable does not have.
I am willing to do the work if somebody can give me proper directions assuming that this does not involve backporting the entire Xorg package?
All I need is to use a more recent XOrg's 915 driver in Debian Stable.
Please CC me as I am not subscribe to the list.
