I'm sure, this is nothing backport specific and affects the package in
unstable too, please issue a bugreport against the package in unstable.
Once it is fixed there (and entered testing), the backport will be updated.

The maintainer in unstable can/will/should report that back to upstream
(with a patch), no need to do it yourself, but you may want to provide
the patch yourself.
