There is no tarball yet, nor SVN tag or branch, it's just the trunk.
I'll create the README.source then.

The debian subdir was removed from upstream, it's only the debian git
branch that contains it.

Ok, we'll do that. Converting the svg to xpm will be alright, I don't
think we have an actually vectorized image in the svg.

Yes the iconv trick from Sergio should work. I don't use UTF-8 in my
systems, so I was thinking my editor will not be able to edit it (VIm)
but maybe it will handle the converted file.

Sergio, I'll read about quilt, that sounds complicated. And yes,
removing the file after compilation and before packaging would be the
easiest way apparently.
