Which may not be usable as noted below here but recall from your high
school physics classes that any motor is also a generator. And an
earphone is itself also a microphone, but it may not and probably isn't
hooked up with any back path gain that would make it actually usable as
such. The only real exception the the rule that a motor is a generator
is the universally used squirrel cage armature AC motor. They, not
having a magnetically hard iron core, lose around 99.9% of their
generating ability unless a dc current is passed thru the coils, which
will induce a current in its short circuited armature, making an
excellent brake to slow the motor by dumping all that rotational energy
as heat in the relatively massive but short circuited armature. You can
bring a 24,000 rpm motor to essentially a dead stop in much less than a
second by that means. Or a 40 lb lathe chuck from 100 rpm to 100 rpm in
the other direction with only .25 turn of overshoot. I am doing it. But
thats another subject often glossed over by the teacher, who may be
reading a teleprompter script and doesn't understand the physics of it
all. And likely never will, sadly. He makes a very poor teacher
because of that. Should have been re-assigned to teach home-ec or
something less technically well defined like physics. Such a teacher
was part of the reason I quite school in my freshman year and went to
work fixing these new-fangled things called televisions for a living.
That smartass, more interested in George Carlin stand up than actually
teaching didn't understand Newtons third law. That statement of course
dates itself to the later 40's of the last century. Now an old fart?
guilty. :) I'll start a new thread about the 17th of next month if the
gismo I ordered doesn't work. So lets put a ~30~ on this one.

If we desire respect for the law, we must first make the law respectable.
