We have planned an appointment with the CTO of Unowhy? to see how they could

that's incorrect: kde plasma active has been specifically designed
with tablets in mind. the workflow is extremely effective and the
design highly responsive. a lot of thought has gone into kde plasma
active: there are dozens of video demonstrations available on youtube
which you can examine.

I wonder if I could ask a generic question at this point: how good is the touch handling on (affordable) current and upcoming tablets, and would they support something like http://risujin.org/cellwriter/ which is claimed to recognise arbitrary Unicode characters but is designed for something like a Wacom pad?
