Thecus N299

Hi,

aparently Thecus has released a new, incredibly cheap, 2-Bay NAS, the N299. It seems to run on the Gemini SL3516[1] which seems to have all the necessary code already available under the GPL [2]. Now, since I'm a cheapo, and the N2100 costs twice as much, I'm quite interested. I wonder if anyone could (maybe someone has actually seen one?) could give me an educated guess as to

... whether it will be possible to get a root shell without waiting for a new remote exploit?
... whether it will eventually be possible to run Debian on this box?
... how it might stack up to the N2100 performance-wise?

All comments appreciated!

Kind regards,
Michael
