Now I want to install a new kernel on my slug, and I have a couple of questions. In the docs (http://www.cyrius.com/debian/nslu2/ upgrade.html) I read that redboot calls apex, and apex boots linux. That's correct.
In that doc, where is the menuconfig step? When we could select the options for new kernel? I miss some step?
If I create a new kernel and initrd, and I adapt the symbolic links vmlinuz and initrd, will the new kernel be booted? No.
Why not, can you be more specfic?
Or should I create a deb-package? Suppose I build a linux- image-....deb package as described in http://www.nslu2-linux.org/wiki/Debian/BuildImage. Is it sufficient to install this package using dpkg for the new kernel to be used?Yes. The post install script will create a new initramfs and flash the kernel and initramfs. -- Rod
Johan, can you maintain me informed about what you follow _exactly_ for installing new kernel? I have nslu2 and I have installed debian following de same link too. I want to compile new kernel that were the same nslu2 has now + pax support. I searched info but no info convinced me. I'm a novice user (I compile kernel in i386 machines but no nslu2)
Thanks to all in advance, Xan.
