GPM not working

Hi,
    I am running Linux-2.4 on my CLPS7500FE board. I have downloaded
GPM binary from debian site and installed it. When I run GPM using
following command, gpm shows up for some time and then ends.

    start-stop-daemon --start -quiet --exec /usr/sbin/gpm  -- -R  -m
/dev/psaux -t ps2 -r 15 -Rms3



it executes the above command, gpm shows up in "top" listing for a while
and then disappears. Using  "ps -aef" also I dont see any gpm running.


Can somebody please help me?
