thanks for your thoughts. I was under the impression that wwwconfig
offered help besides httpd.conf manipulation -- I'm happy with the
conf.d strategy.

In fact, the 'wwwconfig-common' package seems to have handy
mysql/postgres configuration shell scripts. I guess that's all I need
to review, but I thought perhaps there could be some pointers
available.
