Re: Big problem: libgcc1 seems to crash system

since a few days I have trouble, to get any windowmanager started, and some other very important applications crash (for example mysqld).

It only happened to me today, when I updated Sid.

The system, I am running is debian-amd64/sid (0unstable) with full updates.

At last, this si the output, I get running tempfile (or start the application like a windowmanager or whatever).

protheus2:~# tempfile
*** glibc detected *** tempfile: double free or corruption (fasttop): 0x00000000015d4010 ***

This is a bug in 'debianutils' version 3.1. When I went to report it today, I found that others had already reported it, and it had already been fixed by Manoj Srivastava:

You need to revert 'debianutils' back to version 3.0.1 until the updated version hits your mirror -- should be soon. You might still have it in /var/cache/apt/archives; if so, you can downgrade using 'dpkg -i'.
