Turn on all sorts of debugging, (in PAM/NSS) and find out exactly what names / UIDs the PC tries to look up. Make sure those exists in /etc/passwd. After that, the system shouldn't need to consult ldap at all during bootup. Not until ordinary users (presumably found in ldap) start logging in. Helge Hafting
