HAL: Security-Feature ?

Hi all,

just a question: I cannot get external drives like USB-Sticks and SD-Cards get 
writable (when formatted with ext2/3) or writable mounted, as a normal user. 
I suppose, this is related to hald.
Is there any way, to get this changed ?
