Re: hard disk fails? / mounted read-only

Initially the cable had as a second device a dvd burner, I unplugged
that, and verified that the end of the cable was attached to the hd,
bought a new 80 pin cable but the errors persist.

I found that the hard disk has many jumpers, I'll see at the bios, and
the info printed over the hard disk to see if the jumpers maybe are 
misconfigured with this info.
