Re: Custom kernel for Debian-installer howto?

Hello,

this is how I currently install new sarge boxes, if it may help:

- use a daily built etch installer in expert mode. It features 2.6.15
  and can install stable, too.

- just after you installed the ancient 2.6.8 kernel, switch to a shell
  and chroot into /target:
  * apt-get install you favorite editor
  * add backports.org to sources.list
   (see http://www.backports.org/instructions.html)
  * install initramfs-tools and module-init-tools from bpo (and some
  * dependencies, like udev busybox and klibc) along with
    linux-image-2.6.15

- let the installer install your favorite boot manager

There you go, no trouble with dualcore, forcedeth networking or SIS
chipsets.
