do you mean that after installing gcc-4.1 the nvidia-glx package should be somehow (auto)magically created? all the things work now, so i really don't have any idea how to test how does it work...but nvidia-glx is not available in etch. i had to use unstable version when installing amd64 etch desktop. You will also want to install nvidia-glx after running module assistant.any hints? what am i doing wrong? This is caused by a stupid packaging error that remains to be fixed Type "cat /proc/version" and ensure that you have the correct version of GCC installed - i.e. if your kernel is compiled with "GCC 4.1.1" then install the "gcc-4.1" package
also, what doesn the 'stupid packaging error' mean? that it doesn't depend on the compiler version that was used to compile the kernel? but i think that nvidia-glx contained the xorg driver - that shouldn't depend on the kernel, should it?
